HIGHWAY USERS TO ENJOY ADDED VALUE THROUGH PLUS TRAVEL INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday:-  Effective 1st January next year, Class1 highway users traveling on the North-South Expressway (NSE) and ELITE highway between 12:00 midnight and 7:00 am will be able to enjoy 10 percent  toll discount. This is part of the PLUS’ initiatives to offer added value to its customers on both highways.

Speaking at the official launching of the PLUS INCENTIVE TRAVEL program at the Ministry of  Works today the Minister of Works,  YB Dato' Ir Mohd Zin Mohamed said, “The PLUS’ initiative is in line with the Government’s call to give added value to highway users especially during the current economic situation. It also gives the users several options to enjoy lower toll fares at selected times.”

During the launch, PLUS Expressways Berhad Managing Director, Noorizah Hj Abd Hamid unveiled three toll incentive packages of the PLUS TRAVEL INCENTIVE program which will be enjoyed by the customers on the PLUS and ELITE highways which are:-

Concept

One

  • Users of Class 1 vehicles using the highway between 12:00 midnight and 7:00 am will enjoy 10 percent toll discount.
  • Duration : 1 January 2009 until 31 December 2010.

Two

  • Additional 10 percent toll discount will be given to highway users (Class 1 vehicles only) traveling between 12.00 midnight to 7.00 am on selected six days during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Christmas festive seasons.
  • Duration : 1 January 2009 until 31 December 2010.

Three

  • Electronic Toll Payment users spending monthly cummulative minimum amount of RM200 will enjoy 5 percent rebate (for usage on PLUS and ELITE highways only)
  • This offer is given to users who are registered with the PLUS Loyalty Program which will be launched later.
  • Duration : Beginning 1 January 2009

“For example, through the 1st Incentive, users traveling from the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza to the Ipoh Selatan Toll Plaza will only pay RM23.80   compared to the current toll fare of RM26.50,” said Noorizah.

Through the 2nd Incentive, highway users traveling at off-peak hours during festive seasons will be able to enjoy a cummulative toll discount of almost 20 percent if they use the PLUS and ELITE highways between 12:00 midnight until 7:00 am.

The cummulative toll discount will be offered on selected 6 days between 7 days before and after a festive holiday.

“For example, a one-way journey from the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza to the Ipoh Selatan Toll Plaza will only cost the users approximately RM21.40 compared to RM26.50 now,” Noorizah said.

The 1st and 2nd toll incentive will only apply to Class 1 vehicles beginning 1st January 2009 until 31st December 2010.

In addition, PLUS will also launch its Loyalty Program to promote and encourage the public to migrate to the electronic toll payment system.

According to Noorizah, “Users who participate in this program will enjoy a  rebate of 5 percent when they spend  a monthly collective minimum amount of  RM200 on the PLUS and ELITE highways. The Loyalty Programme will start from 1st of January next year and registration will be opened to public this December.”

“The PLUS TRAVEL INCENTIVE program is part of the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility program to offer incentives to the users who utilize the highways during off-peak hours.  Incentive One and Two will be offered upon official agreement by the Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan Berhad and Expressway Lingkaran Tengah Sdn Bhd (ELITE) bondholders. Meanwhile, PLUS stands committed to continue to provide safer, smoother and more convenient travel at all times,” Noorizah concluded.
