Kuala
Lumpur, Monday :- It’s all systems go as PLUS Expressways
Berhad (Operator of the North-South Expressway, ELITE and
Linkedua highways) gears up for the anticipated Chinese New Year
holidays to facilitate better traffic movement and enhance its
service level on the highway.
“PLUS Expressways is proactive and committed to helping users
travel more safely, comfortably and effectively, especially
during peak periods,” PLUS Managing Director, Noorizah Hj Abd
Hamid told a media briefing on PLUS preparation in anticipation
of Chinese New Year holidays.
“PLUS Expressways is also committed to giving customers added
value by ensuring that highway travel continues to be a safe and
efficient mode of transportation,” she added.
Increase of Resources
Noorizah said that manpower on the mainline will be increased by
60 per cent during the festive season. At toll plazas, all lanes
will be opened and additional lanes will be increased by 33 per
cent. A total of 349 staff will be mobilized to assist in
traffic management at rest and service areas (RSAs) and toll
plazas.
PLUS will also deploy additional resources and initiatives to
cater for the additional traffic. These include:-
• Aerial Traffic Surveillance.
• Emergency Response Teams at strategic locations along the
highway.
• More PLUSRonda Teams.
• Mobilise the HQ Reserve Unit and open up additional lanes at
toll plazas.
• Extend Customer Service Centres and Touch ‘n Go Top-up lanes
operating hours.
Additional Third lane
For journey to the South, the third lanes (both bounds) have
been opened for traffic between Seremban and Ayer Keroh. On the
North, the third lanes between Slim River and Rawang (both
bounds), will be opened for traffic during the upcoming festive
season.
Contra Flow
To facilitate a smoother northbound traffic flow between Tanjung
Malim and Slim River, an additional lane will be provided via a
contra flow which will be activated between KM392.8 and KM378.5,
beginning 10:00 am, on 5 February (depending on traffic flow).
The Contra Flow will be deactivated at 11:59 pm on 7 February to
provide normal 3-lanes for Southbound traffic during their
return journey to the Klang Valley.

Travel Time Advisory
PLUS in joint collaboration with the Malaysian Highway Authority
(MHA), Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM), AMP Radio Networks and
Radio 24 is issuing a Travel Time Advisory (TTA) for the Chinese
New Year holidays as an effort to ensure safer and convenient
highway travel.
According to Noorizah, “The Travel Time Advisory is to cater for
the traffic during the upcoming long holidays. The objectives
are to encourage Klang Valley residents to travel at advised
times for both outward and return journeys and also to ensure
safer and efficient traffic flow in order to reduce congestion
during peak periods.”
Based on findings from the recent Hari Raya holidays, the Travel
Time Advisory (TTA) received positive and encouraging response
from the public.
Approximately 60% of highway users followed the recommended
schedule during the recent Hari Raya holidays, and traffic was
generally smooth without any major congestion.
“This indicates that the TTA achieved its objective through
co-operation from the public, the Police, Malaysian Highway
Authority, Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat as well as other parties
involved. As such, we wish to thank all parties concerned and
advise the public to continue follow the proposed TTA during the
Chinese New Year holidays this week,” Noorizah said.
(Please refer to the attached Travel Time Advisory schedule).
Customer Convenience/Comfort
All facilities at the rest and service areas and lay-bys are
opened 24-hours a day.
For the convenience and comfort of highway users, PLUS will be
providing additional parking facilities at 12 rest and service
areas and lay-bys.
