Travelling up north to Ipoh via the NKVE and NSE is faster and cheaper. Obviously the better choice, users can also save up to 4 kilometres in travel distance compared to using the GCE. For example, users from Shah Alam heading towards Ipoh can save up to 80 sen and 4 kilometres when they travel on the NKVE and enter the NSE via the Bukit Lanjan interchange as compared to traveling on the GCE, and re-enter the NSE via the Rawang Selatan interchange.

Users can also save time if they use the NKVE-NSE route as they only need to stop to pay for toll at the Ipoh Selatan Toll Plaza. On the other hand, users are required to stop at three different toll plazas to pay their toll if they use the GCE-NSE route to Ipoh. For longer journey travelers, the savings are even more attractive. Class 1 users from Skudai and KLIA can save up to RM1.40 and RM1.30 respectively when they use the NSE-ELITE-NKVE-NSE route. This excludes savings from as much as RM1.60 to RM2.00 during off peak hour travel and off peak hour festive season travel through the PLUS Travel Incentive Program which was introduced recently.
