The Touch 'n Go system works on reloadable contactless smart card technology. What this means is that users need only 'touch' the pre-paid card at a sensor panel provided at the toll lane for instant payment. The toll charge is simply deducted from the value stored in the smart card. Reliable and convenient, Touch 'n Go cards may be used at all toll plazas throughout the entire North-South Expressway. SmartTAG

The SmartTag system compliments the Touch 'n Go system, using the same pre-paid smart card. The Touch 'n Go card is placed in an on-board SmartTAG unit installed in the vehicle allowing the user to drive through the toll plaza without having to stop. Payment is made automatically as the toll charge is deducted from the value stored in the smart card. SmartTAG units may be used wherever you see the SmartTAG sign.
