PLUS TEMPORARILY CLOSES LEFT LANE TO RECTIFY SINKHOLE NEAR IPOH HIGHWAY (NorthBound)

PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) has temporarily closed the Left Lane between KM273.8 and KM272.5 (Northbound) between Ipoh South and Ipoh North interchanges on the North-South Expressway (NSE) for an urgent repair and maintenance work.

The repair and maintenance work are being carried out after a PLUSRonda team identified a 2.1-meter-wide and 2.1-meter-deep sinkhole at KM272.7 (Northbound) while patrolling at 3.30 pm on Monday, 27th May. The left lane was immediately closed as a safety measure towards its highway customers.

PLUS’ series of extensive inspections at nearby locations confirmed no further sinkholes were identified. This anomaly did not result in any untoward incident involving its highway customers driving along that stretch.

However, PLUS maintenance team of experts are currently monitoring the situation very closely as a precautionary safety measure and is concurrently conducting in-depth investigation to identify possible causes of the sinkhole. The left lane on the stretch will be fully opened upon completion of the repair and maintenance works, that started since this evening, upon advice from the experts onsite.

Therefore, customers plying the stretch are advised to drive carefully and follow all traffic signages and instructions on site.

PLUS will continuously share its latest traffic updates at the affected stretch via PLUSTrafik Twitter, PLUS Mobile app and electronic signages places at strategic locations along the highway.
