PLUS EMPLOYEES DONATED OVER RM128,000 TO 7 FENCELINE HOSPITALS TO COMBAT COVID-19 - 3,800 PLUS employees contributed to Tabung Warga PLUS Prihatin

PLUS employees comprising of 3,800 Customer Service Assistants (CSA), the PLUSRonda, Traffic Monitoring Centre personnel, executives and senior management came together amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and collected among themselves over RM128,000 which have been channelled to 7 hospitals along the highway fenceline to help combat Covid-19.

With the resurgence of the Covid-19 cases over the past week continues, the employees of PLUS are heartened to know that their small contribution will hopefully be of some relief to the 7 hospitals namely; Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban, Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru, Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang, Melaka Hospital, Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang, Selayang Hospital and Serdang Hospital.

“The contribution from the employees of PLUS reflects the PLUS’ corporate value of taking care of the communities along the highway fenceline. It was evident that the hospital front liners needed much help in terms of equipment and safety gear in combating Covid-19,” said PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Azman Ismail.

The Tabung Warga PLUS Prihatin (TWPP), set up during the Covid-19 pandemic, enabled staff to channel their own personal contribution, while the organisation assisted in identifying the cause to support. Seven hospitals were chosen due to their geographical location, which was within PLUS’ 30-kilometre radius fence line but mainly they were tireless fighting the coronavirus spread with little assistance.

The 3-month long donation drive reached a collection of over RM128,000, during the hardest hit period of the MCO and was fully utilised to also purchase and provide medical supplies for the treatment of Covid-19 patients at the respective hospitals.

“To every single employee who made their contribution, they should be proud of themselves as a little does go a long way, and they have helped to equip the medical front liners at those hospitals, yet they will never know the countless lives that their contribution has saved,” added Datuk Azman.

“We wish to express our utmost appreciation and gratefulness to PLUS and their employees for their concern in contributing to this hospital. This donation will be of great help to contain Covid-19 pandemic and as the medical frontliners, we really appreciate PLUS efforts and initiatives to help us”, according to Dr. Azura Abu Bakar, Director of Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital.

“The Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to PLUS for their donation for the treatment of Covid-19 patients. This donation will be a great help to medical staff in general in Negeri Sembilan in aiding and accommodating our battle towards the Covid-19 pandemic. We have not won yet, let us work together against Covid-19,” explained Dr. Zaleha Md Noor, Director of Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital.

While 2020 has been a truly challenging year for PLUS, what it has drawn out is the care that the employees have for everyone, regardless of whether they are a highway customer or a fenceline community member, as a Friend of The Nation (Rakan Negara), the people truly believe in looking out for one another in the true spirit of “Kita Jaga Kita”.

Previously in April, PLUS had also contributed RM1.2 million worth of medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) to two main Covid-19 hospitals, Kuala Lumpur Hospital and Sungai Buloh Hospital to help combat this global pandemic.
