PLUS UNVEILS ITS VOLUNTARY SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2020: BREAKING THROUGH DISRUPTION ~Paving Ways Towards Sustainability ~

 PLUS Malaysia Berhad’s (PLUS) launched its first voluntary Sustainability Report at its virtual townhall recently, which was attended by over 1,700 employees. The report demonstrates PLUS commitment and highlights its achievements in the areas of Environment, Social and Governance.

“As Malaysia’s largest highway operator, we are conscious of the critical role we play in supporting the Government’s visions toward being Smart Highway of the Future as well as our responsibilities towards the environment and society. Recognizing this, we have implemented numerous initiatives to ensure that we provide a safe and comfortable commute, while preserving the environment, being socially responsible and upholding good governance.” said Datuk Azman Ismail, Managing Director of PLUS,

PLUS has been recognized with various National and Regional Energy Management awards. Through digitalization innovations, the company recorded a 25% savings in energy consumption and achieved a significant reduction of GHG emissions (Green House Gas). “Our report illustrates the measures we undertook to minimize the impacts of climate change to protect the safety of our highway users. Guided by the PLUS Green Roadmap, the Report shares our aspirations in accelerating environmental efforts, including water and waste management” said En Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi, PLUS Chief Operations Officer.

The Report highlights various innovation efforts and its achievements. In 2020 alone, 170 processes were digitalized resulting in a reduction of 1,300 hours in process cycle time and a saving of 3 million sheets of papers. Align with PLUS’ commitment towards continuous learning and developing an agile workforce, it successfully conducted 27,000 virtual training hours to over 2,300 employees.

 

Being the logistical lungs of Peninsular Malaysia and a catalyst for socioeconomic activities, through the various Movement Control Orders (“MCO”) we spared no effort to ensure seamless delivery of our essential goods and services across our highways, while in strict adherence to SOPs. We also supported our highway frontlines and local communities through financial assistance and CSR programs, touching more than 10,000 lives.” said Satpal Singh, PLUS Chief Governance & Risk Officer, who oversees Sustainability activities at PLUS.

PLUS HASILKAN LAPORAN KELESTARIAN 2020: MELEPASI RINTANGAN DENGAN JAYANYA~ Inisiatif Mampan Jadi Landasan Syarikat ~

PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) telah melancarkan Laporan Kelestarian yang pertama melalui sesi Town Hall secara maya yang disertai oleh lebih daripada 1,700 kakitangan PLUS baru baru ini. Laporan ini turut menunjukkan komitmen serta pencapaian PLUS dalam bidang kelestarian Alam Sekitar, Sosial dan Tadbir Urus.

"Sebagai pengendali lebuh raya terbesar di Malaysia, kami menyedari peranan penting kami dalam menyokong Kerajaan merealisasikan visi ‘Smart Highway of the Future’ serta tanggungjawab kami terhadap alam sekitar dan masyarakat. Menyedari hal ini, kami telah melaksanakan pelbagai inisiatif demi memastikan perjalanan yang lebih selamat dan selesa, di samping menjaga alam sekitar, bertanggungjawab secara sosial dan melaksanakan tadbir urus yang baik,” kata Datuk Azman Ismail, Pengarah Urusan PLUS.

Menurut Ketua Pegawai Operasi PLUS, Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi, “PLUS telah menerima Anugerah Tenaga Kebangsaan (National Energy Awards) 2020 bagi kategori Pengurusan Tenaga Bangunan Besar serta Naib Juara Anugerah Tenaga ASEAN (AEA) di peringkat Nasional dan Antarabangsa. Melalui inovasi pendigitalan, PLUS telah merekodkan penjimatan sehingga 25% dalam penggunaan tenaga dan mencapai pengurangan pelepasan GHG (“Green House Gas”) yang ketara. "Laporan kami menggariskan langkah-langkah yang  diambil untuk meminimumkan impak perubahan iklim bagi melindungi keselamatan pelanggan lebuh raya kami. Berpandukan kepada Pelan Hala Tuju Hijau PLUS, laporan tersebut berkongsi aspirasi kami dalam mempercepatkan usaha demi kelestarian alam sekitar, termasuk pengurusan air dan sisa”, tambah beliau lagi.

Laporan ini juga memperincikan pelbagai usaha, inovasi dan pencapaian PLUS. Pada tahun 2020, sebanyak 170 proses kerja telah didigitalkan dan menghasilkan penjimatan sebanyak 1,300 jam dalam waktu kitaran pemproses di samping merekod penjimatan sebanyak 3 juta helaian penggunaan kertas. PLUS juga tetap komited dalam membudayakan pembelajaran berterusan demi meningkatkan keupayaan tenaga kerjanya melalui kejayaan melengkapkan 27,000 jam latihan secara maya kepada hampir 2,300 kakitangan.

"Lebuh raya PLUS merupakan nadi utama rangkaian logistik di Semenanjung Malaysia dan pemangkin aktiviti sosio ekonomi. Dalam mengharungi pelbagai peringkat Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) kami sentiasa memastikan lebuh raya merupakan perkhidmatan asas penting di samping mematuhi SOP kepada setiap syarikat logistik. Kami juga telah menyokong barisan hadapan dan komuniti tempatan melalui bantuan dan program CSR, yang telah memberi manfaat kepada lebih 10,000 individu,” kata Satpal Singh, Ketua Pegawai Tadbir dan Risiko, yang bertanggungjawab memantau aktiviti kelestarian di PLUS. 

"Saya ingin mengambil kesempatan ini untuk berkongsi aspirasi, usaha dan pencapaian kelestarian kami melalui laporan ini. Penerbitannya merupakan bukti komitmen PLUS untuk memberikan nilai-nilai lestari kepada semua pihak berkepentingan (“stakeholder”) kami bagi merealisasikan budaya ‘Menjaga Anda Dengan Baik, Di Sepanjang Perjalanan,” tambah Datuk Azman.
